Ben Ellis deeded the lot on SE Monroe Street to HFH in 2003.

Work on the home started in July 2004 with the slab being poured. On July 30 th a group of approximately 30 people including many contractors started construction of the first home located at 587 SE Monroe Street. The exterior and interior walls were completed the first build day.

During the month of August the top plates and sheer walls were completed on the home. On the last Saturday in August 2004 three trusses were installed before the rains ran us off. Then September came with the Hurricane Season of 2004 that none of us would ever forget. The month of September was virtually wiped out due to the hurricanes.

When we went back to work on the home the back sheer wall material was severely damaged by the water from the hurricanes. This material was eventually torn off and replaced once the roof was complete. By the end of October we had the roof on the home and a front porch built.

The windows and exterior doors were installed and much of the siding was done in November and December. The siding, soffit and facia were finished the first quarter of 2005 which completed the exterior of the home. The rough wiring, plumbing and ductwork was also completed the first quarter of 2005. In April 2005 we started installing the dry wall. This task took several weeks to complete with the finishing help of several contractors. Once the dry wall was complete the interior doors were installed and the painting began. The electrical wiring, plumbing, cabinets and flooring were installed over the next several weeks.

The home was dedicated on October 1, 2005. A mother and her three children were the recipients of our first home.
